Reef series to set out alarming growth in Code Zero calls

hannel 5 has commissioned an obs-doc series exploring the rise in Code Zero police officer radio calls.

Reef Television’s 4 x 60-minute Code Zero: Police Under Attack (w/t) will focus on the “alarming rise” of calls made by officers requiring urgent assistance, which is currently at around one every six minutes.

Using footage of incidents recorded via body and dash cams, Zinc Media-backed Reef’s series will lay bare the terror police officers face whilst in the line of duty and the ensuing emotional toll.

Due to air in February, it will include interviews with officers, their teams and responders.

C5 factual commissioning editor Daniel Pearl ordered the series, with Rachel Plattis exec-ing for the Village of the Year indie.

Pearl said that he “knew immediately the series would resonate with C5 audiences”.

“The series will be poignant, intense and timely as police forces across the country face greater demands on tighter budgets,” he added.

Earlier this year, Reef founder Richard Farmbrough stepped down after 14 years with the indie and also left his role as Zinc commercial director.
